Since the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty, the European citizens have gained new power  : thanks to the European Citizens' Initiative, they can, for the first time in their European history, directly suggest new legislation.

This innovation will allow at least one million citizens from at least one third of EU Member States to invite the European Commission to bring forward legislative proposals in areas where the Commission has the power to do so.

If one million European citizens sign the petition before the 2nd September 2011, the European Commission will hence to take a stand on this issue.

The European is now within your reach; it is up to you to fully utilize it!

Let us mobilise and collect one million signatures and demonstrate to the European Commission that the European citizens are ready to vigorously fight  violence against women!
